Avon Summer Theater High School Division
Doreen Cohn (Director, Summer Program Coordinator), has directed local theatre groups involving elementary students to adults for over 40 years, including Canton High School, Canton Benefit Productions, CIGNA Theatre, Simsbury Summer Theatre, Simsbury High School, Theatre Guild of Simsbury, The Ethel Walker School, Avon Summer Theater, Bloomfield Youth Theatre, and most recently, No Way to Treat a Lady for the Farmington Valley Stage Company. In addition to her directing credits, she has designed sets as well as performed with area theaters. Former Avon Teacher of the Year (2004), Doreen was head of the Theater Department at the Ethel Walker School, Simsbury for 17 years and is currently Artistic/Executive Director for the Farmington Valley Stage Company in Collinsville, CT.
Ken Jones (Production Designer/Technical Director), has mentored students and adults in theater craft in over 100 productions, for programs and organizations including Avon Summer Theatre, Avon HS, Canton MS/HS, Farmington Valley Stage Company, FAVARH, Loomis Chaffee NEO Theatre, and Theatre Guild of Simsbury. He is Director of Theater Operations and Resident Production Designer at FVSC. Ken firmly believes that everyone with the desire to learn can be guided to cultivate their strengths and master any challenge.
Diana Lawler (Music Director), played her first show at 13 years of age, and was hooked! She has been the accompanist and/or music director for over 60 area productions, including Canton High, CCSU, Ethel Walker School, AOF, Warner Theatre, TGS and she has been the music director for AST for many years. Diana is also the accompanist-in-residence for the Canton school system, and accompanies at several schools. She holds a B.M. in piano performance from the Hartt School of Music and is a member of CSMTA. Besides all this, she is also a private piano teacher.
Terry Rowe (Choreographer): “Miss Terry” owned and operated Terry’s School of Dance in Avon for 32 years where her students performed all over including two cruise ships, Universal Studios and seven times in Disney World, as well as taking several top honors at local competitions. She has choreographed for many groups, most recently the Theatre Guild of Simsbury’s Honeymoon in Vegas and Canton High School’s Legally Blond, as well as Kingswood Oxford High School, Simsbury High, Avon Summer Theater, Thompson Brook School, Suffield Players and Summer Place Players.
Cindy Braunlich (Costume Designer), has been involved with theater in Connecticut and New Jersey for over 18 years, most recently last year's We Will Rock You (AST), Honeymoon in Vegas (TGS) and No Way to Treat a Lady (FVS). She has costumed for numerous groups including Theatre Guild of Simsbury, Avon High School, Canton High School, Henry James Middle School and Simsbury Summer Theater.
Peggy Beauregard (Production Assistant, House Manager), is pleased to be back for her seventh summer with AST. Peggy is a math professor at University of Hartford and looks forward to this theater experience every summer!.
